Wolves vs Chelsea
Saturday 20th Febr 10
Molineux, Wolverhampton
Result: 0-2
Goals: Drogba x2
Well the day started off or should I say night with not the best start with my Daughter Poppy keeping me up all night, but not to be disheartened I got my self up at 6:30 got ready and made my way to Leeds station to catch the 7:55 to
Already aboard the train was Grovesy, Mark, Ja, and two new lads who were making there first appearance at an away Chelsea game, Wrighty and Iggle Piggle (And no it wasn’t the Character from the CBB hit ‘In The Night Garden’) that wasnt actually his name it was Pugsley or Pigsley or Puggles anyway I digress I called him Iggle it was easier!
We arrived in
As the train pulled in to Wolverhampton Jason pulled the dreaded Google map from his pocket and announced that our first watering hole would be the Weatherspoons 5 minutes from the station. We sneaked in as it was home supporters only, and got a table at the back, Pints were ordered along with many Belly Buster Breakfasts. The lads all tucked in and after what seemed an eternity they had all finished, and it was time to get on with some serious drinking!!
An hour passed and some lads from ‘Darn Sath’ who were going to meet us arrived, it was our old friend Tarek and the boys from Worthing, we got some more beers in and started to put the world to rights about all things Chelsea. Once again it wasn’t long before Ja got itchy feet and stated he wanted to head off. So off he went to find another watering hole, 10 mins later and the call was received “Where in the Walkabout, Its full of
In the Walkabout it was Rocking, Everton were beating the Mancs, The Jager Bombs were flowing and the
We were then told by the local constabulary that the Pub had to be emptied and we had to make our way to the ground. About two hundred of us made the short walk across the town centre to Molineux.
We reached the ground and gained entry into the Steve Bull Lower tier, where we had enough time for a quick bottle then it was out to our seats to watch the match. The Stadium was full, the pitch wasn’t in the best of nick but the
The game was average, with Woves doing most of the pressing before a lovely one two between Zurkov and Ballack allowed Drogba to get on the end of cross to make the score 1-0 in favour of the Blues. The away end erupted!
Half time was metal to say the least, non stop singing of “You are my sunshine” for 15 mins was great, the whole concourse was rocking!!
Second half started as the first half had with Wolves in the ascendency, but that was quickly quashed when ‘The Drog’ got on the end of a Cech punt up field to round the keeper and make it 2-0, Game Over!
The final whistle was greeted with great celebrations knowing we had gone clear at the top of the league by 4 points!!! We left the ground to the chant of “We are Top of the League, say we are top of the league”, we safely made our way back to the town centre for a couple more drinks before we headed to the station.
We Boarded the Train and as always ended up siting in separate carriages, don’t know how we manage this but we do. It was a fairly quick journey for me as I fell asleep only to be woken by Iggle Piggle and Wrighty at Manchester Piccadilly. A quick dash to platform 15 and I was aboard the Trans Pennine with Ja, Mark, Iggle Piggle and Wrighty, but wait no Grovesy????
The Muppet had only decided to go to ‘Upper Crust’ to get a Sarnie knowing full well that our connection was in less than 5 mins, safe to say like all true mates we left him behind!! Its amazing the affect 10 Jager Bombs can have on you!!
Anyway 50 mins later I arrived safe and sound in
It was all summed up by a text I received the following morning by Jas, I will share that text with you, and it read:
Top Day
Top Result
Top Mates
Top of the League
And that what’s going to football is all about!
Carefree
